Advanced member management

Owners and Admins have more control over membership in shared spaces.

As a premium feature, membership and permissions for subspaces can be managed independently from parent spaces.

For example, a company can have all of its employees as members of a top level space, “ACME Resources”. A subspace, “Graphics Department”, could be restricted to just the creative team.

Or, let’s say you are going on a family vacation. You create a space called “Trip to Iceland” for everything related to the trip. You share it with your spouse for collecting all the travel planning, receipts, tickets, etc. However, you create a subspace for photos to share with friends and invite them into just this subspace. You and your spouse have access to everything, but your friends will only get to see the photos!
To manage an existing subspace’s membership independently:

1. Navigate to the subspace and tap on the avatars area for that space.

2. Select “Customize membership”.

3. Choose the starting list of members in this space and click “Proceed”. You must include yourself, and can optionally copy over all of the active members, as well as the pending invitations from the parent space.

4. You will now see the same “manage members and permissions” interface as in any other shared space and will be able to make changes that don’t affect the parent.  Go here for instructions on managing shared space membership.

The Admin Role

Owners can assign the admin role to one or more members of any shared space. An admin has almost all the capabilities of the owner, including:

Note: In order to have full admin rights, a user must have a Premium subscription or higher, or be an Org Member.
